Arid Zone Research Institute (AZRI) Bhaker has recently developed this bold seeded variety. Salient features of this variety have been discussed in this video. Bhaker star is a medium statured, 2 inches less than Akbar 2019 and it substantially resists lodging. Being a soft and broad leaved variety, it has as durable resistance against leaf rust disease as that of Fakhr e Bhaker. Its tillering capacity is not as profuse as that of Dilkash. That is why, 50 kg seed rate is suggested for this bold seeded variety. It performs better in case of medium to late sowing. Early sowing should be avoided. Its ear is lax and not as compact as that of Fakhr e Bhaker and Dilkash. Its grain is very pithy, 1000 grain weight is more than most of the prevailing varieties that is 45 gram or even more in some cases. Its yield potential is 70 maunds per acre or more in some cases. Spike colour is whitish. Its baking quality is excellent. This variety has been developed for all Punjab but its cultivation is mainly suggested for the irrigated but dry areas like Bhaker, Mianwali, Layya, Bahawal Nagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Rajan Pur, DG Khan and northern parts of Sindh province. It endures terminal heat stress especially in the south Punjab. Being a heat tolerant variety, its grains do not shrivels as those of most other varieties.
