Haven't uploaded anything in a while so here's a test animation of an Dune Ornithopter starting up and flying.
------------------------------
I figured out a way to control the frequency of wing beats using geometry nodes instead of a constant frequency using keyframe noise modifier like I did last time. This method lets me make a start up sequence as you see here.
I've been trying to make this animation work for months but the motion blur kept bugging out - every couple of frames there was a random wing that wouldn't have any motion blur - no matter what I did this issue persisted. I thought it was caused by geometry nodes and eventually gave up trying as it was driving me mad.
Then I finally figured out the issue which ended up being something completely unrelated to the motion blur or the way the wings are animated - it was caused by the auto smooth option being enabled on the wings - which apparently breaks motion blur though it's never mentioned in Blender. But thankfully now I know that so here's the animation, it's rough but it's just a test at this point. Hopefully I will make more soon.
