BNZ Auckland Lantern Festival, one of New Zealand's largest cultural festivals, opened at Manukau Sports Bowl on 22nd February. The "Auspicious Dragon Lantern" from China is illuminated, glowing with colours and with its head poised to fly! The "Auspicious Dragon Lantern" is an enlarged version of the "Auspicious Dragon" of the 2024 "Happy Chinese New Year", with a Yuanbao nose, auspicious cloud ears and flaming eyebrows, full of representative elements of traditional Chinese culture.
The opening performance of Xi'an Wenyi Art Troupe was very exciting. The dance is as light as a kingfisher dancing and jumping among the orchids, suddenly lifting the body like a swimming dragon. Guzheng music, face-changing and ancient colourful juggling shows that left people in awe! BNZ Auckland Lantern Festival is the most important multicultural event in Auckland and is also a cultural event for different ethnic groups in New Zealand to gather together, which plays a positive role in showcasing the excellent traditional Chinese culture and promoting cultural exchanges between China and New Zealand.
