But for the Princess of Wales, who has pledged to transform attitudes towards the critical early years, the former at least is par for the course.
So when she was interrupted during a landmark visit to a children’s centre on Thursday, by a rather loud burp, she took it all in her stride.
“Well done you,” she cooed, turning to the oblivious ten-month-old offender, Raphael Pickering, as a split second of horrified silence was followed by nervous laughter.
