Peanuts from: Jungle Seeds
Sown: 03/03/2022
I started them indoors two per module and they took a couple of weeks to germinate. It’s important to cover with cling film to keep the compost moist and put onto a heat pad, heated propagator or radiator to keep warm. Once it heated up outside, in the greenhouse they went. I watered a couple of times a week and never once fed them. You could say I neglected them really!
Lessons learned:
Next year I’m going to try separately sowing into a larger pot as they don’t like their roots disturbing. May try mixing fish, blood and bone into the compost when potting on this time. I’m going to water more (struggled with the heatwave this year). Most importantly, I will be less impatient and leave them to ripen longer! 🤭
Then I’ll get a bigger harvest 😂 Still, I’m happy to have grown any at all in the UK! Next year WILL be better.
Are you going to give growing peanuts a go?! 🥜
