Fast rope insertion is a technique that allows troops to descend from a helicopter using a thick rope to slide down. Soldiers practice this technique to gain proficiency in inserting team members where the aircraft cannot touch down.
Operation Viking is an intense joint task force exercise designed to prepare Soldiers with realistic training simulation deployment of civil affairs units in direct support of a contingency operation in Africa.
