I used a 5lb ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher. I will keep my eye out for a 10lb for better capacity. These commercial tanks are pressure tested to 3x their operating capacity(195psi) to 585psi. However, dealing with pressure vessels is never considered safe especially when modifying them. Working with pressure vessels is always dangerous. Dented, rusted or damaged tanks are obviously a poor idea to use. Don't do anything you saw someone else do on the internet.
What's the YELLOW powder in ABC fire extinguishers? It is mainly 60% monoammonium phosphate(common plant fertilizer) and 40% Ammonium Sulfate(another common plant fertilizer) with a tiny bit of the natural mineral Mica and yellow dye. BC fire extinguishers are just plain white baking soda. The yellow dye in ABC extinguishers sets them apart from BC dry powder units.
