A huge thanks to Tracker John, who guided me down this treacherous cliff route. In between the much visited sands of Porthcurno and the stunning Pedn Vounder in West Cornwall lies the lesser visited Green Bay. A tidal cutoff renders access via the sands, from Porthcurno, impossible for much of the day, apart from a short window of less than an hour at relatively low tides. Some people do paddle board or kayak around to the serene cove, but very few EVER climb down the cliff face from the end of the track at Percella Point. It is a high grade scramble where ropes are indeed recommended. Obviously, at short notice, and with Tracker John relaxing in his caravan at Land's End camping site, we didn't have any ropes! There were some dodgy moments for me in this descent, but John supported me amiably with his experience. The reward was a tropical-esque paradise beach all to ourselves for about 20 minutes. What a morning it was!
