Two British tourists found dead and semi-naked on Koh Tao beach

Two British tourists have been found murdered on a Thai holiday island.

A 23-year-old woman was discovered lying near the body of her male friend, 24, on the island of Koh Tao, in the early hours of this morning.

The female victim is believed to have been raped before she was killed.

The pair, both semi-naked, were found at 6:30am local time today near a beachside bungalow on Siree Beach.

Police said the pair had deep head wounds, believed to have been caused by a bloodstained hoe found nearby.

It is understood the 23-year-old woman is from Great Yarmouth and the male victim, 24, is from Jersey.

An investigation was launched by police and the beach was closed as they scoured the area for clues.
