📢’Mental Health Check’ by: Lakshmi Gowda
The current global crisis hit the world in so many different ways, affecting people from all walks of life, businesses and backgrounds. It had particularly hit hard our Arts and Entertainment Industry, with many of our people losing jobs and some wondering how to pay their rent and food in the coming days. It hit us hard too and with the quarantine on top of an already rocky start to the year, I found it a bit too much. Although I am strong in my life’s purpose, I still found myself confused, with feelings of overwhelm, anxiety and some depressive thoughts starting to creep through. Stuff I hadn’t felt since my last personal crisis 5 years ago.
That’s where Arts Care International came in. 🙏🏽 A not for profit foundation that specialises in the mental health and holistic care of people in the Arts and Entertainment Industry.
I met the Director Sharna Lovell who I am blessed to call a friend, about 3 years ago, joined their mission and had a complete life transformation. Having tried to seek help in the past, no one was able to reach me in the way I needed until meeting Sharna and the ACI crew.
They work with all types of creatives, from Leaders, Celebs, Artists, Crew, Actors, Models and Fashion Designers, providing specially tailored support for any of us who may be facing a tough crisis or just need a listening ear.
I felt like family right from the start, able to call through or meet with a trusted person anytime I needed.
