The vertical forest towers, or Bosco Verticale, are a pair of residential buildings located in the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy. The towers were designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and completed in 2014.
The towers are known for their unique design, which features a large number of trees and other plants on the balconies of each unit. In total, the buildings contain over 900 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 11,000 plants. The plants are chosen for their ability to thrive in an urban environment and to provide a range of benefits, including improving air quality, reducing noise pollution, and providing shade.
The taller of the two towers is 112 meters (367 feet) tall and contains 27 floors, while the smaller tower is 80 meters (262 feet) tall and contains 18 floors. The towers contain a total of 400 residential units, as well as commercial space on the ground floor.
The Bosco Verticale has won numerous awards for its innovative design and sustainable features. In addition to providing environmental benefits, the towers also provide a unique living experience for residents, who can enjoy views of the city and the surrounding greenery from their balconies.
Overall, the Bosco Verticale is a striking example of how architecture and nature can be combined in a sustainable and visually stunning way.
