Direct mail campaigns can be a cost-effective marketing tool with postage being a significant part of your budget. There are three types of direct mail postage you should be aware of.
First-class mail typically has a delivery time of 1 to 4 days making it ideal for time-sensitive direct mail campaigns. This speed comes at a price, usually costing a third more than standard mail. And if you are sending less than 200 pieces, you must send it with a first-class stamp.
Standard mail is a great option for large campaigns as it is the most cost-efficient. Delivery can take 6 to 10 days and during peak delivery seasons, like the holidays, standard mail has the lowest priority.
If you’re a not-for-profit, you may qualify for nonprofit postage. It has the same delivery timeframe as standard mail but at a lower cost. But before you can take advantage of the discount, you need to apply on the USPS website.
