The Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) is dedicated to helping indigenous populations of Amazonia identify means to generate income that do not harm their forests.
In this video, ACT’s Bruce Hoffman describes how one such project in a remote Surinamese village started out as a simple idea to harvest plants that can grow quickly so that their leaves can be dried out for tea production.
Today, with ACT’s facilitation, the villagers maintain a sustainable herbal tea enterprise, with local partners in the capital city handling the business aspect.
