Múa Lân lion dance performance at MFA Boston Museum of Fine Arts during the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year Pig celebration at Shapiro Family Courtyard. Besides the Chinatown Boston Parade in the streets, always great to see Múa Lân lion dance outside of Chinatown in Western settings. Location was also place for Wah Lum Kung Fu CNY lion dance who performed the popular Monkey and Lion Dance performance at 2016 and 2017 lion dance competition hosted by Chinatown Main Street to the community for general public. This area of art museum has beautiful open space and large glass windows that is adjacent to the Art of America Wing. The grand public space is massive where the crowd and audience attended and enjoyed the lion dance 舞獅 along with a character known as the buddha in yellow. 2019 and early part of 2020 was the Earth Pig period which then goes into the metal element. Chinese New Year or Tết Nguyên đán Trung Quốc is a popular occasion around the world where lion dance or múa lân activities can be seen. There are other animals in the cycle including 2020 for year of the Rat and 2022 for year of the Tiger or con hổ based on the lunar new year calendar. CNY is celebrated all over the world in the West & Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong & Vietnam and Malaysia as well as Singapore & Taiwan regions. During the opening - it features a very simple red sculpture where the shape is enough to indicate a pig object. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts or MFA has many exhibits from Asia and other countries around the world - including a variety of contemporary and modern art that is filled with great amount of education and learning. It is believed that the lion brings peace & good luck and prosperity to everyone. Múa Lân lion dance 舞獅 performance and Múa Lân lion dance drumming by the East Boston Association. The MFA is located not too far from Boston Chinatown and a brief ride on the MBTA subway trains in the city. Event on February 9, 2019
