The Supreme Court has finally given its verdict in the AGR Dues case and the Telcos have 10 years to pay the dues as against the twenty years sought by the centre.
Bharti Airtel’s counsel Kapil Sibal speaks to ET Now and shares his views on the same. Kapil Sibal adds that the government was willing to give 20 years. But with finality from the Supreme Court a 10% upfront payment has also been made. AN NCLT team will now look into the matters of JIO and Bharti Airtel, that whether the spectrum can be a security with a bank, whether it can be considered as a property or not.
Supreme Court has waived off the contempt cases as of now against the Telcos but they will be revived if the telcos don’t comply with the payment schedule.
