The next step to getting this jack plane up and running, going through the process of flattening the back of the iron, and the cap iron(or also known as the chip breaker I believe).

The purpose of flattening out the back of both is so they meet together and stop bits of wood shavings getting caught in between, as well as supporting the whole width of the iron itself for good cuts and less chattering.
