The Ten Paise Coins of 1971 to 1982 was released in Aluminium Magnesium with 12 notches scalloped instead of earlier 8 notches scalloped in shape. The coins weights 2.27 grams with 26 mm diameter.

On the Obverse,  Ashoka Lion Capitol within circle of beads, wreath surrounds with lettering भारत INDIA. At the reverse,  Denomination, date below within circle of beads, wreath surrounds with lettering पैसे 10 PAISE.

The coins of 1973 and 1974 Hyderabad Mint, 1977 Calcutta MInt are considered as rare and valued approx Rs 200 to Rs 300. The rest of the coins are more or less considered as common or scarred and valued approx Rs 20 to Rs 50.
