This review features an offering by Australian Private Reserve ([ Ссылка ]). APR is essentially, the Barrister & Mann of the southern hemisphere. They make small batch artisan shaving soap and splash with an unwavering commitment to quality over quantity. In addition to shaving accouterments, they also produce Eau De Parfum, which I can tell you from experience is amazing. The scent profiles and complexity they derive, are matched by very few. APR is currently available through their website and at Stray Whisker ([ Ссылка ]) for those of you “down under” and at Maggard Razors ([ Ссылка ]) website or Groomatorium Inc. ([ Ссылка ]) for my U.S. viewers.
Fresca is APR’s take on the classic Italian Colonia scent. It is a clean and crisp scent with a brightness that you’d expect from notes of: Italian Neroli, Italian Lemon, Bergamot, Sweet Orange, Rosewood, Rosemary, Jasmine, Musk, Mysore Sandalwood & Patchouli. The scent is masculine but not offending in any way, Scent strength is mid-strong out of the container and remains the same through the lather and shave. Comparable scents are Catie’s Bubbles Confiant and Stirling Soap Co. Piacenza.
APR is an excellent tallow base that utilized a standout list of ingredient including: Stearic Acid, Glycerine, Tallow, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Fragrance, Shea Butter, Lanolin, Silk Protein. The performance of this soap is above average in the artisan soap space. The cushion and density of the lather is very good and slickness, both primary and residual are good. The post shave feel of this soap is it’s greatest attribute as it leaves the skin soft and hydrated. When using this soap base, it’s hard not to think you may be using an offering from Tallow + Steel or Chiseled Face Groomatorium.
