A range of affordable excursions, the island’s spa, a freshwater pool, walks and diving, make this an attractive destination for visitors who want to stay on the land but prefer more modern resort facilities that other stays don’t provide. Refurbished in 2017, Agusta Resort is and a brand new way to experience Raja Ampat. Italian-owned and run, it caters for families and casual tourists wanting a more sophisticated experience, which maintains value for money and the local feel the region is so famous for. This 1km long island is exclusively for the thirty or so guests that occupy its 15 rooms (for comparison, the Great Barrier Reef’s Heron Island is the same size and houses the University of Queensland’s research station and 100 guest units). At the eastern end is a lighthouse and the island is surrounded by reef with sheltered snorkeling.
