One of our favourite walks close to home - starting from the picturesque village of Belstone in the North of Dartmoor up to Belstone common and it's tors. We had an intriguing companion for the first bit of the walk - the friendly village cat decided to accompany us for some time while we were following the River Taw out of Belstone. The path then goes up the hill along the Irishman's wall and we enjoyed a crisp picnic sheltered up at Higher Tor with some stunning views. Walking across a Tolkien-esque granite landscape along Belstone tor we decended to reach the fascinating Nine Maidens stone circle and made it back to the car just in time for another wintery shower!
