Kingdom Centre clinch a vision of the future with the sky bridge which commands a remarkable view of Riyadh city unrivalled by any other. The Kingdom Centre was one of Riyadh’s first skyscrapers and, when it was completed in 2002, it was the tallest in Saudi Arabia. Such a feat would not be possible without close collaboration between the design and engineering teams, as well as the myriad collaborators and subcontractors involved with the project. Structurally, the building consists of two systems: for the first 180 meters, reinforced concrete columns and beams connected to a reinforced concrete core carry the load down to the four-meter-thick, 3,100-square-meter raft foundation. The building‘s remaining height is supported by a more versatile steel structure, due to the complex shape created by the inverted arched opening at the top.
SkyBridge - Extending 65 meters in length, the SkyBridge, a steel structure weighing about 300 tons, sits on top of the 300-meter height tower and overlooks Riyadh's whole. Its unique position gave it the advantage of being one of the most important attraction points for tourism in Riyadh. The trip to the SkyBridge passes through two elevators, the first elevator will take about 50 seconds to reach the height of 180 meters to the Transfer level, and the second elevator will take less than 40 seconds to reach its final destination the Sky Bridge.
