People pay their respects to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is lying in repose at the Carter Center until Jan. 7.
Carter's body will be flown to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday where he will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol before being transferred to the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday for the National Funeral Service after which his casket will be flown back to Georgia, his home state, to be buried next to his wife, first lady Rosalynn Carter who died in 2023.
