Explore with me Dettifoss Waterfall and Selfoss Waterfall. Dettifoss Waterfall is reputed to be the second most powerful waterfall in Europe after the Rhine Falls. Dettifoss and Selfoss are located on the diamond circle in Northeast Iceland.
I highly recommend you visit Dettifoss Waterfall from the east side to get a better view and to be able to get closer to the waterfall. You will be driving a gravel road for about 30-45 minutes if you visit the waterfall from the east side. When you try to find Dettifoss on google maps, google maps will give you 2 options; east side and west side. Choose the east side if you want to get a stunning view.
You do not need a 4WD car to drive the gravel road to Dettifoss Waterfall (The East Side). A standard regular car will do fine.
The parking is free and there is a public restroom in the parking lot.
Selfoss waterfall is a 10-minute walk from Dettifoss waterfall. The views of those 2 waterfalls from the east side are out of this world.
