Racing NSW is expected to go head-to-head with Victoria with the announcement of a new race to rival Melbourne Cup Day.

The new $2 million race, called 'The Big Dance', will run at Royal Randwick straight after the race that stops the nation.

Racing NSW boss Peter V'landys is expected to announce the event today, which is tipped to award prize money ten times the amount of any Flemington contest.
