Brown or black belt in Shotokan karate in near Winnipeg in Manitoba? Join our next league event or come to watch and say hello!
The Inter-dojo Shotokan League of Manitoba is a fun league managed by Sensei Phil Harris, 5th dan of the Heijoshin Karate club in Winnipeg, MB. The league events are open to all karateka who train Shotokan karate - regardless of dojo affiliation - and are brown belt (3rd kyu) and higher.
At the IDSL events, competitors will compete in head-to-head kata events, and freestyle kumite events, and brown and black belts 16+ will be invited to practice Officiating for kata and kumite events.
This video is a kumite/sparring event, where competitors are assigned either a red belt or a blue belt and paired off to compete. JKA rules are in force and ties are possible. Points are accumulated through the entire "karate season" (ie: all year) and a windup event will occur to celebrate the final results then.
