Clipped Wing Cub Wednesday!
It's surprising that I've had my Clipped Wing Cub for 2 years and not once have I had a video taken of this fun aerobatic model, until now. I had only flown it once in its stock 3S configuration and wasn't satisfied with the power output for my flying style (for those of you that disagree with my power assessment, just try flying here - at least a mile up in CO and then we'll talk). The remaining flights up to this day have all been on 4S power and have had no issues.
I also made additional upgrades to the internal system for 4S compatibility, performance and longevity, as well as enjoyability in dimly lit conditions. See below for a list of modifications and measurements:
BATTERY: Pulse 4S 2250mAh 45C Lipo
ESC: Hitec Energy Sport 60a w/5a SBEC
PROPELLER: Xoar PJN 11x6 Beech Wood Electric
4S MOTOR COOLING: Custom Cut Sanded & Painted Spoon Air Scoop (feeds outside air directly to the top of the motor through a duct in the hood)
AIRFRAME PAINT PROTECTION: 2 Coats of Minwax Semigloss Polycrylic
LIGHTING: Eflite EFLA600 Universal Light Controller (Full Navigation Lighting w/ Top and Bottom Beacon Lights
MAX STATIC AMP DRAW: 39.9 Amps
MAX STATIC WATTS: 607.6 Watts
The Clipped Wing Cub has been a fun high-wing aerobat that I've enjoyed many flights with, and definitely look forward to many more.
Thanks for capturing the flight video Mike!
