Near to Hotel Elafos, high up amongst trees on the hill you will find this lovely abandoned Italian Villa De Vecchi which was built in 1936 by Count Cesare De Vecchi in the mountains of Profitis Llias on the Island of Rhodes, Greece. This villa was the summer residence of General Cesare Maria De Vecchi the Italian Governor of Rhodes between 1936~1940's during the Italian occupation of the Island. It was built for the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini's retirement, however Mussolini never actually lived there as he met his end during WW2 after being caught fleeing Italy. The villa has been abandoned since 1947 and I believe it to be up for sale by the Greek government!
