Welcome to our first time watching It's a Wonderful Life (1946).
First time to both of us and we now think it's one of the best films of all time.
Very rarely do we conclude that a film is just about perfect. This film is.
There's too much to love about this to write. It exists beyond cinema, beyond the arts, timeless and crucial to living experience. Perhaps not articulating why it is so good is to also keep it perfect. But for example, the telephone scene is simply genius. So much perfection writing, directing and humanity at work in the whole film. Also we noted in the editing that the timeliness of our real life events coinciding with this viewing have been uncanny. "All You Can Take With You Is That Which You Have Given Away."
Directed by Frank Capra, based on a short story called The Greatest Gift written by Philip Van Doren Stern. Starring James Stewart as George Bailey, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, Henry Travers.
