The onset of Covid-19 has led, through necessity, to sudden and sweeping changes to higher education provision. Teaching and assessment have largely moved online, exposing vulnerabilities to academic integrity within the system. Key to these vulnerabilities is the temptation for students to commit contract cheating, that is for them to rely on a third party to complete assessed work that they should be doing for themselves.
In this webinar recording, Dr Thomas Lancaster provides an overview the contract cheating landscape in relation to Covid-19, with a focus on five key ideas for the academic community to consider. These ideas range from how and why contract cheating providers are capitalising on the Covid-19 opportunity, to considering methods available to support students to avoid the temptation of contract cheating and embrace academic integrity.
The recording also features an overview of Epigeum's interactive, online ‘Academic Integrity' programme — outlining how the resource relates to some of the challenges and opportunities outlined by Dr Lancaster, one of the programme’s expert authors.
