Hi Everyone! I'm starting a new creative journey. I love trying new things and mixing it up a bit. One thing I have never made is a hard cover journal from scratch. In this first video of a new series, I share my thought process, my inspiration and how I'm approaching this project a little more organized than the last....at least that's my goal. The challenge I'm giving myself in this one is to try to use my inspiration (a ghost town) but not take it too literally. I've used photos I took on a road trip to Bodie to get myself inspired and create a prompt list of observations. After the last project, I had so much fun creating my own papers that I hope to do a lot of that again in this project. I'll be experimenting with different finishes for backgrounds and share them with you as both freebie downloads and decorative papers in my Etsy Shop. To get you started on this journey with me, here's a link to some of my favorite Bodie photos in case you want to immerse yourself and get inspired right along with me: [ Ссылка ]
As you'll see in this video, once the inspiration kicked in and I started to collect materials, I started taking photos of things in my studio that might work as great backgrounds on their own or as inspiration for creating some of my own decorative papers. Hopefully soon I'll have some of these available for download as well.
Later in the video I will show you how I've made a book cover from recycled food boxes. This will get us started and in the next video we'll do a simple treatment to the cover to give it a vintage grunge look for our journal. The fun thing about this cover is that it will cross over to lots of different journal themes depending on where we take it from here.
