During the past two weeks, 14 brave individuals embarked on an incredibly transformative experience at Hsi Lai Temple for a two week long retreat. Free of distractions from the outside world and met with a regimented and disciplined schedule that challenged their day-to-day hanits, they took on the task with determination. By practicing meditation and mindfulness while doing even the simplest tasks, such as eating, standing, sitting or walking, the retreatants developed patience and emotional regulation. Learning more about Humanistic Buddhism and the core teachings developed their empathy, compassion, and expansive love for all beings. Through their daily practice, they developed wholesome mindsets that they will inevitably take home and continue to practice in their everyday life.
