The European Council president told the PM he was 'not happy' with her opposition to a customs union as he dismissed the idea that Brussels will water down its demands to keep control over Northern Ireland. Visiting Downing Street for lunch, Mr Tusk instead challenged her to come up with another way of avoiding a hard border with the Republic. The leaders greeted each other warmly as Mr Tusk arrived at Downing Street today (pictured left and right) - but progress in the negotiations appears to be frozen. Sitting alongside each other as they posed for cameras in No10 (inset), the Eurocrat told Mrs May of her red line: 'I'm not happy with it, you know.' But in a more conciliatory tone he added: 'Maybe it's natural that you have maybe different point of views when it comes to the essence of Brexit.'
