The Nifty was down 164.80 points or 0.93% at 17,589.60 at closure, and the Sensex was down 541.81 points or 0.90% at 59,806.28. A total of 1558 shares are up, 1858 are down, and 112 are remaining steady. The Nifty's largest losers included Adani Enterprises, M&M, SBI Life Insurance, Reliance Industries, and Adani Ports, while winners included Tata Steel, Larsen and Toubro, Bharti Airtel, Apollo Hospitals, and Axis Bank. While buying was observed in the metal and power names, FMCG, Realty, Auto, and IT all had 1-percent declines. Smallcap index lost 0.2 percent, while the BSE midcap index dropped by 0.55.
