Originally written by John Westfall in 1945, the Philmont Hymn is the song that closes every campfire at Philmont Scout Ranch. This version was sung by the 2017 Activities Staff, who performed the song at two campfires every night over the summer.
Lyrics:
"Silver on the sage,
Starlit skies above,
Aspen covered hills,
Country that I love.
Philmont here's to thee,
Scouting Paradise,
Out in God's country, tonight
Wind in whispering pines,
Eagles soaring high,
Purple mountains rise,
Against an azure sky.
Philmont here's to thee,
Scouting Paradise,
Out in God's country Tonight."
Vocalists: Robert Hawthorne, Montana Ludlow, Alex Lauzon, Andrew Foley, Andrew Gutknecht, Ben Everett, Ellyn Washburne, Ethan Gibson, Jack Evans, Jake Macknick, James Stevents, Jess Mcclelland, Kate Kenworthy, Kenneth McLaughlin, Mckay Larmon, Raymond French, and Will Peterson.
