No one is sure why the waterfall was called Dog Slaughter but one theory was unwanted pets would be drowned there. But despite it's horrible name it is a great hike to a beautiful waterfall. The time we visited there was a lot of water flowing which made for some nice pics. Cumberland falls located in the state park named the same is a easy and popular waterfall to visit.
