A retired navy personnel was killed while his 8-year-old son escaped with burns following a fire at their house in Kampung Padang Perdana near here yesterday.
The remains of Mohd Asri Idris, 39, were discovered after firefighters brought the blaze under control following the 11.30pm fire.
Asri's wife and three other children aged between four and 13 fled the burning house while his other son, who suffered burns to his face, hands and legs, was rescued by some neighbours.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said firefighters found Asri's lifeless body inside the bathroom near the kitchen after they put out the fire.
