Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, a library is the landmark visible from afar with four 79-metre-tall tower blocks designed to look like open books. It is the main site of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (spread over seven sites), and holds 40 million documents and manuscripts from French collections dating back as far as the Middle Ages.
