Recorded with a Shure Beta 58 on an 8” Weber Signature Alnico Speaker mounted in a pine speaker cabinet. No effects or EQ added. Guitar is a Strat set on the middle pickup, volume and tone controls fully open.
Amp is set with Volume knob at 2:00 which is the sweet spot, just on the verge of breakup. More gain can be added by turning up the volume knob or engaging gain switch’s.
These amps respond well to your guitar volume and tone knobs. Some guys like to dime the amp control volume and tone at the guitar.
I build three different 5W Desktop Mini Tube amp models (5F1 Champ, 5F2A Princeton, and the GA5 Skylark), each available in an Octal Preamp Tube Version. All six amps were recorded in the same session, same guitar, under the same conditions, using three different riffs (Chunky Chords, Single Notes and Allegro Arpeggio) on a Looper in order allow you to compare the differences.
