Owing to severe impact of the pandemic, the growth of global economy has generally been sluggish at best while Chinese economy has shown a strong degree of resilience. What measures should be undertaken to promote the recovery of global economy in the post-pandemic times and what role will China play in that process? Is the fast development of vaccination a main contributor to the recovery of the global economy? Moreover, what is the outlook of the global capital markets in the second half of 2021 and is restructuring the global financial system possible?

Many argue that the pandemic does not seem to unite the major powers in the international arena, but instead has appeared to be slowing globalization or even has encouraged de-globalization to an extent. How can the world overcome the difficulties posed by the legacy of Covid-19 and sentiments of de-globalization and continue to advance the process of globalization? Can China and the US corporate on reshaping global order and reconstructing global governance?

On May 12, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) is honored and pleased to host a fireside chat session featuring Martin Wolf, Chief Economics Commentator and Associate Editor at the Financial Times. Mr. Wolf is a world-renowned journalist on economics, a strong advocator of globalization and free market and the author of Why Globalization Works. Prior to joining the Financial Times, he was a Senior Economist at the World Bank and Director of Studies at the Trade Policy Research Center.
