This video is about Vero True Social ("Vero"), a social networking application.
The Vero app is available for iOS and Android devices.
According to Vero, the social network will not have ads, it won't mine users' data and it won't use an algorithm.
With the Vero app, users can post many different types of content. In addition to posting photos and videos, users can post content relating to books, movies, television, links, music, and a location.
Vero has a very nice layout, and the visual content is displayed in a vertical or grid format. The social networking app also allows users to control who sees their posts.
You can share posts to close friends, friends, acquaintances, and followers.
The app lets you edit and add effects to your photos. Users can like, comment, and share content. You can see who follows a profile, and you can see who the profile follows.
Vero has a feature it calls Collections where content is organized by category.
I like the social network, and I think it is a fun app to use. I should note, however, that there does not appear to be a lot of user activity on the social network. I saw numerous profiles that had not posted in a long time.
In all fairness, however, I have not added any connections, so I am not connected with any close friends, friends or acquaintances on the app. I should note that the feed on Vero is filled with content from your connections and people that you follow. Since I am not following a lot of people, and I have no connections, my feed is empty--except my posts are shown. Also, not having many followers contributes to the feeling of the overall lack of activity on the app.
However, I am going to continue exploring and using the app for a bit, but I am not sure how much longer I will use it.
It really would be great if there were more people actively using the app. In my opinion, Vero has a lot of potential.
As I discuss in the video, I think it would be great if there was an option to post plain text, and it would be nice if there was a desktop version of the social network.
I also discuss how Vero says there will be no algorithm. I certainly understand and appreciate what they are trying to do with that.
I also understand and like the idea of content displayed in collection categories. However, as I mention in the video, maybe there could be a separate page in the app where content is displayed in a wall/grid.
But let me expound on that a bit more here.
The idea is that, on a separate page, the content could be generated and displayed on a wall/grid by relevance [instead of ONLY having a vertical/chronological feed.
That way, people could leisurely explore and filter through the visual grid. This would be in addition to how content is displayed chronologically in a user's regular feed and how it's stored in the collection area.
Let me know your thoughts on Vero, by leaving a comment to this video.
Thanks for watching.
