(11 Sep 2016) US and NATO forces based in Afghanistan marked the 15th anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday with a short ceremony at NATO's headquarters in the capital Kabul.
Some three-thousand American civilians were killed on September 11, 2001, in the worst terror attack in US history.
The attacks on American soil were followed by US-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, where the combined US military death toll years ago surpassed the 9/11 victim count.
