We delidded the AMD R3 2200G APU (same as the R5 2400G), then added liquid metal to the new Raven Ridge part. Thermal testing in the next video!

DELID & LIQUID METAL: This content focuses on delidding the new AMD R3 2200G APU, in the same Raven Ridge family as the R5 2400G. These APUs are Ryzen + Vega combination chips, and use thermal paste instead of solder; consequently, these are the first Ryzen chips to use thermal paste. We delidded the AMD R3 2200G APU using a vice and a razor, then applied Conductonaut liquid metal to the die and IHS inside. We're working on thermal testing of the new R3 & R5 APUs, which we'll publish shortly (subscribe for that). The R3 2200G doesn't yet have a dedicated delidder, but it wasn't too hard to do manually. We'll soon benchmark the R3 2200G for thermals, which will be followed shortly by APU graphics and gaming (FPS) benchmarks.
Delidding isn't too hard, and we think it is worth it to delid most CPUs. Those with solder don't apply, but we'll soon find out how the AMD Raven Ridge APUs are when delidded. Check back soon!
