Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J P Nadda released the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections today, in which implementation of Uniform Civil Code and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) has been promised. The party has given a major push to Nandini milk, and has promised three LPG cylinders, free of cost, to BPL families.
In other news, the latest electoral rolls data reveals that the number of Assembly constituencies in Karnataka where women voters outnumber men has jumped to 112 – or 50% of the total 224 seats – from 67 (30%) in 2018. The state’s overall gender ratio of electors, or the number of women voters per 1,000 men voters, too, has improved from 973 to 989 over the past five years.
