The Soviet Union developed a large mobile armored command vehicle called "Redut" based on the MAZ-543 chassis in the 1970s to enhance the mobility and protection of military command centers. However, the vehicle was not favored by the Minister of Defense due to its cost and the existing equipment was deemed sufficient.
