Named for Polish Revolutionary War Soldier Casimir Pulaski, Fort Pulaski is situated at the mouth of the Savannah River on Cockspur Island, Georgia. As part of the “Third System” of American coastal forts, Fort Pulaski was the site of a 50 day siege during the American Civil War.
We stopped by on our way to our bucket-list trip to Key West and Dry Tortugas National Park. This was after we spent one night at the Statesville I-77 KOA.
