Work is a quantity in physics that can be calculated in a number of different ways. One method involves finding the area "under the curve" of a force vs. position graph.
Technically, this is very basic calculus. Don't get too worried, though; if you can calculate the area of triangles and rectangles, you can do this!
Work is one way that energy can enter or leave a system, so calculations like this often show up in problems involving energy and the conservation of energy. Be sure to check out some of the videos in this playlist to get a taste of that!
