Argentina's National Day celebrates the 168th anniversary of the country's break with her former colonial ruler Spain. On May 25, 1810, the ruling council of Buenos Aires deposed the Spanish Viceroy and independence from Spain was consolidated six years later. General Videla, the head of state, Admiral Emilio Massera, navy commander and air force commander, Orlando Agosti attended the te deum mass.
