PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND- Dr. Alfred Morais was born in Halifax, and has lived his whole life on beautiful Prince Edward Island.
From initial studies in marine biology at the University of PEI, Alf shifted his focus to medicine, receiving his medical degree from Dalhousie in 1985. Alf went into general practice in 1986 with the intent of taking a year or two to determine which discipline to pursue. But after five years at the Charlottetown Medical Clinic, Alf joined the family practice group at Parkdale Medical Centre, where he continues to work today. He is recognized as a leader, mentor and advocate for patients, medical students, residents and his fellow physicians.

Alf has augmented his practice with a variety of professional appointments and leadership roles in professional committees and organizations, including Medical Director for the Queens Health Region of PEI and President-elect for the PEI College of Family Physicians for 2007-2009. He has a special interest in sports medicine and enjoys his position as Team Physician with local hockey teams. He is the Assistant VP of Medical Affairs for the 2009 Canada Summer Games in PEI.

Alf and his wife Anne, a registered nurse, have a daughter, 21 and sons ages 20 and 18. They enjoy school and sports activities, and Alf claims that the guitar is his real passion.

"Family medicine holds such appeal to me because of its diversity. As a family physician, there is no end to how you can participate in the health and well being of your patients. To me, the work I do is a privilege, for which I am very grateful."
