Some simple vocal exercises and techniques to fix breathing singing with LA based singing teacher, John Henny.
Singing with a breathy voice can often be psychological and happens a lot with beginner singers who are a little shy about their singing voice. These are some simple vocal exercises that are great for both beginners and pros.
I recommend getting into spoken emotionally driven sounds.
Imagine that you are reprimanding a toddler that is about to touch a hot stove and practice saying 'Ah Ah Ah' with finger wagging! Then once you do that you can sing with the piano using the scales 'Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah' or for example you are telling your sibling to get out of your room. So you sing: 'Go Go Go Go Go Go Go'
When you practice these singing exercises you will get vocal cord closure you want you will go back to other exercises and your voice will go breathy again so you need to just keep coming back and do these exercises.
As you get vocal cord closure you will very often have to deal with chest pulling issues as you approach singing the bridges of a song.
That is very common but getting this cord closure is necessary so that you can begin to fix those issues as you go into the transition in the song from verse to chorus to bridge.
These are all good exercises to improve your overall vocal technique and become a better singer.
