Bayfield is the gateway to the Apostle Islands, being the primary passenger port and the community service provider to the settlement of La Pointe on the only inhabited Madeline Island. Today, Bayfield is a major tourist and resort destination with thousands of folks visiting for fishing or just passing by to either Apostle Islands or further east along the lakeshore. Bayfield has a lot to offer like the best seafood (technically, lakefood) restaurants for every income range, nice cozy hotels with patios overlooking the bay, marine services and of course the fishing tours. I was enchanted by this little town and hope to come back soon.
